June 30, 2022

The weather is warm, the days are long, and the city has come to life! It’s time to get outside and soak up everything NYC has to offer, so we’ve put together this list of activities near our landings to help you make the most of your summer.

? Take NYC Ferry to Rockaway

The first thing we think of during an NYC Summer is taking the ferry out to Rockaway Beach to catch some rays. This beach in Queens is a surfing hot spot with a lively boardwalk and great food located throughout. It’s also home to The People’s Beach at Jacob Riis Park which is a welcoming spot for the LGBTQ+ community. Check out the NYC Ferry Rockaway schedules to plan your trip!

? Explore Governors Island

Governors Island has everything you need for the perfect summer day in NYC where you don’t feel like you’re in the city. There are free playgrounds, parks and hammocks plus it’s a carless island that’s ideal for biking. If you get hungry head over to Taco Vista or Island Oyster to grab a bite to eat.

? Cool down in one of NYC’s Pools

The summer heat has arrived in NYC and although our ferry rides can cool you down there’s nothing like jumping into a refreshing swimming pool. There are various free pools located throughout the five boroughs. If you’re feeling something more private there are also hotel & rooftop pools you can visit such as the Manhattan Park Pool Club on Roosevelt Island.

⛳️ Play a round of Mini-Golf at PUTTING GREEN

PUTTING GREEN is a climate change themed 18-hole course located on the waterfront in Williamsburg. Each of the 18 holes has been designed by a community partner, including artists and designers, community and school groups, and environmental advocacy organizations. Their goal is educating and enlightening visitors on climate change in a fun and creative way.

? Float above NYC at the Tacos & Tequila Festival

NYC has no shortage of rooftop bars to try, but this month you can experience 230 Fifth Rooftop like never before at their Tacos & Tequila Festival. Enjoy unlimited tacos, nachos, and Mexican hors d’oeuvre with tequila tastings, plenty of photo ops and a great live DJ.

⚾️ Watch the Ferryhawks play with a view of the skyline

The Staten Island Ferryhawks play in the breathtaking SIUH Community Park with panoramic views of Manhattan (and NYC Ferry!) They play 11 home games in July, so there’s plenty of opportunity to sail over to our St. George landing and check ‘em out!
