June 1st marks the official beginning of Pride Month in NYC. This month is filled with events celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and commemorating the Stonewall Uprising of 1969 — the beginning of the modern Gay Rights movement.

GayRidge Pride  Bay Ridge

Owl’s Head Park

Bay Ridge will play host to its first official Pride event on June 5th in celebration of southern Brooklyn’s LGBTQ+ community. The event is open to all ages and will be held in Owl’s Head Park from noon til 5pm. Activities will include a picnic, live music, drag story time, games, a queer pet march, an art show and crafts.

Trek Ride with PrideMidtown West

Ending at 16th Street and 7th Avenue

The first March was held in 1970 and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. The 53rd NYC Pride March will begin from 25th Street and 5th Avenue. Marchers will proceed south on 5th Avenue before heading west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, the March will continue on Christopher Street passing the Stonewall National Monument. It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York City AIDS Memorial, before dispersing in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue.

Queer Van Kult: Revelation St. George

Queer Van Kult transforms the Main Hall into a fully immersive dreamscape that subverts the societal narrative in which to be queer is to be “othered.” Revelation invites visitors to be “unborn” from these societal expectations and enter a world where queerness is a preexisting condition.
