The largest annual photographic event in New York City will exhibit work from over 600 visual artist. It will also offer nighttime projection program, hands-on workshops, an education day for New York City middle and high-school students, panel discussion and talks present next door at the 60 Water Street Storefronts, tents with vendors, family-friendly photo activities, publishers and gear demonstrations, a community photo bookstore run by Red Hook Editions, tintype portraits by the Penumbra Foundation, and a beer garden with a range of food vendors by Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Brewery beers.

NYC Ferry will also host one of the hundred exhibits displayed at Photoville this year, with photos produced by Francesca Magnani. The exhibit will be called PEOPLE OF THE FERRY. The exhibit is from the point of view of just one of our riders. NYC Ferry will also provide a catalogue of photos, which will be available on NYC Ferry boats throughout the two weeks of Photoville.

About the Artist:

Francesca Magnani was born in Padua, Italy and since 1997 is a New York based journalist and photographer. Francesca’s stories over the years have been published in various Italian magazines and have often stemmed from everyday encounters in the streets of the Big Apple. They have ranged widely in interest from issues of lifestyle to identity, from incarceration to one’s relationship with space. Having lived half her life immersed in a culture extraneous from her own, having trained academically in Classics and Anthropology, having taught Italian to hundreds students, her work bridges cultures and tells through her images and words the aspects of people’s lives that touch her and reach her, at the same time chronicling her own life.
