Update on NYC Ferry Coney Island Service

Previous Next
November 21, 2022

In late 2021, NYC Ferry paused work on the Coney Island Creek ferry landing due to navigation and safety concerns related to sand build-up. While we have taken an exhaustive look at the different location options for a Coney Island Ferry landing with continuous dialogue with the community, we have not yet found an operationally viable and financially responsible landing location where we could deliver service. The landing will be removed from its current location in Coney Island Creek during winter 2022-2023.

As NYC Ferry enters a new phase, we are focused on equity and cost-efficiency to keep this essential transit network sustainable and available to New Yorkers. New York City Economic Development Corporation, the city entity overseeing NYC Ferry, remains committed to continued economic development and support to Coney Island and its residents and welcomes discussions with the community about the possible future of a ferry landing. For future plans and changes, please be sure to sign up for updates at ferry.nyc or to discuss further with NYCEDC, please reach out to [email protected].
