Upcoming Schedule Changes Beginning Monday, February 2
NextNYC Ferry is announcing two upcoming schedule changes in response to planned construction at East 34th Street and initial feedback on optimized routes. See below to learn more about both schedule changes, beginning February 2.
Temporary Schedule Changes During East 34th Street Construction (Effective February 2, 2026)
NYC Ferry will implement two upcoming schedule changes, the first starting on February 2 to accommodate construction at East 34th Street. Schedules for the East River, Rockaway-Soundview, Astoria, and South Brooklyn routes will all be temporarily modified starting February 2 for approximately two weeks to reduce vessel congestion during construction.
To reduce vessel congestion at East 34th Street, the following changes will be implemented temporarily starting February 2, 2026:
- The East River route will operate as the Local route, making all stops during all times of day. An additional departure from Hunters Point South has been scheduled before 7:00 AM. Please review schedules to plan your trip after February 2.
- The Rockaway-Soundview route will operate every 66 minutes. Please review schedules to plan your trip after February 2.
- Departure times on the South Brooklyn route will change. Please review schedules to plan your trip after February 2.
- Departure times on the Astoria route will change. Please review schedules to plan your trip after February 2.
- There are no schedule changes to the St. George route schedule since that route does not go to East 34th

Restoration of Service and Updated Winter Schedule (Effective after construction at East 34th Street is complete, estimated February 16, 2026)
Once construction is completed, NYC Ferry will transition to an updated winter schedule that restores existing service frequency on all routes and adjusts departure times on certain routes based on rider feedback. NYC Ferry will provide advance notice to riders before transitioning to the updated winter schedule.
Here’s everything you need to know about this schedule change:
- A weekend schedule will operate for all routes on Monday, February 16 in observance of President’s Day.
- East River A and East River B will resume operations during weekday peaks, and an additional departure from Hunters Point South has been scheduled before 7:00 AM. Please review schedules to plan your trip.

Questions about the upcoming schedule changes?
What is the East 34th Street construction work?
The marine piles on the northern side of East 34th Street need to be replaced. Starting on February 2, newer and taller piles designed to withstand rising sea levels during severe storms and enhance resilience for routine operations will be installed at East 34th Street. This work is anticipated to last approximately two weeks and will reduce the number of available vessel slips.
Why is my schedule changing during construction?
While East 34th Street is one of the more popular passenger ferry landings in the New York Harbor, it only has three available slips where ferries can dock. By taking two of these slips out of service for pile replacement, only one slip remains to accommodate all NYC Ferry and other operator service at East 34th Street. By moving arrival and departure times and slightly reducing the frequency at which boats arrive, it allows for a more predictable schedule with fewer delays. We know this will be a temporary inconvenience for NYC Ferry customers, but we hope that with the planned schedule change, riders can plan ahead as we invest in the continued safe operation of our ferry facilities.
Why are you implementing a new schedule after the temporary construction schedule is complete?
When we implemented the optimized routes and schedules on December 8, 2025, we committed to continuing to evaluate how those changes impact riders and make updates as necessary. We received feedback about elements of the existing schedule that the Updated Winter Schedule will address by restoring lost departures for workers, providing better school arrival times for students, and reducing vessel congestion at some landings. This schedule is estimated to go into effect on Monday, February 16.
