Take the NYC Ferry to Porch Stomp 2025!
NextFree and Participatory Celebration of Folk Music and Dance on Governors Island
NYC Ferry is excited to partner with Porch Stomp as they announce plans for their annual festival, which will take place on June 21st from 11am-6pm on Governors Island. Porch Stomp invites over two hundred folk bands, artists, and performing arts organizations to use the greenery of Nolan Park, Colonels Row, and Liggett Terrace as a space for performance and education, highlighting artistry ranging from traditional folk to old-time, blues, cajun, Irish, bluegrass and Americana. Now in its twelfth year, the festival offers unique performance and educational opportunities, including concerts, workshops and open jams. Each “stage” or porch is curated and produced by an arts organization or local venue that supports traditional arts, and will represent a specific folk community in New York City. 2025 partners will include Sunny’s Bar, The Jalopy Theater and School of Music, Brooklyn Contra, Cowgirl Seahorse, The North Flatbush Avenue BID, The Folk Music Society of New York, People’s Voice Cafe, Bantam Studios, and more. Participatory activities include old-time, bluegrass, and Irish jams, contra and square dances, and more! Beer and cider will be available for purchase at Threes Brewing, and food and other beverages will be available for purchase courtesy of Little Eva’s, both in Liggett Terrace.
Porch Stomp is a free, volunteer-run music celebration produced in association with Make Music New York, a not-for-profit that connects music makers, fans and the public spaces of New York City. Unlike typical music festivals, anyone can take part in Porch Stomp, and all events are free and open to the public.
