Deck the Stalls at Essex Market This Holiday Season

Essex Market is partnering with Fulton Stall Market to give you a 3-day holiday celebration! From December 13th to 15th, enjoy live music, vendor tastings, and many more activities. The fun can be found on the Essex Market mezzanine from 12 PM to 6 PM each day of this holiday spectacular. There will also be vendors from public markets across the city with unique gifts ready for you to take home to your loved ones. Each day of the weekend has different events and NYC Ferry doesn’t want you to miss out on any of them. To get to Essex Market, take the Lower East Side route to Corlears Hook, and it’s a 20-minute walk from the landing.

Gift Wrapping and Holiday Card Making is perfect for making one-of-a-kind seasonal cards for your loved ones! All you have to do is show up, paper and decorations are provided. In case you purchase gifts at the market, there will be Essex Market-themed tissue paper available to wrap your gifts. Come gift wrap and make some holiday cards at Essex Market on December 14th, from 12 PM to 3 PM.

Holiday Cookie Decorating for you and yours! Make the most of your afternoon on December 14th and 15th and decorate some homemade holiday cookies. Decorate sugar and ginger cookies from Sugar Sweet Sunshine with sprinkles, festive icing, and glitter. Admission is $5 and includes 6 cookies, endless decorations, and a festive box to take your treats home. This event will take place on December 14th for kids ages 2 to 15 and December 15th for those 16 years and older, from 12 PM to 1 PM. 

The Past, Present, and Future of Essex Market is brought to you by Turnstile Tours. Take some time to learn the rich history of Essex Market and stories of its 35 vendors. Essex Market strives to support the small businesses that help provide the Lower East Side with affordable and high-quality foods. Essex Market has been doing just that since 1888 when it began as an outdoor pushcart market. Join a tour on December 14th at 2 PM, 3 PM, or 4 PM. Each tour is 30 minutes long. 

Joy to the World of Beer and Cheese Tasting will give you a new understanding of beer and cheese as a pair. Enjoy tastings from the vendors Top Hops Beer Shop and Formaggio as experts talk you through 5 pairings. While enjoying the tastings, you’ll also learn the fundamentals of cheesemaking and beer brewing. Tickets are $40 and will take place on December 14th from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. Cooking Workshop with the Jewish Food Society wants you to join in on the holiday cooking! Join the Jewish Food Society for a morning of cooking Hanukkah family recipes from Bulgaria, Denmark, and Brooklyn. While learning to make the dishes, you will also be told the stories behind each recipe. The cooking class will, of course, conclude with you indulging in your dishes! This event will take place on December 15th from 10 AM to 11 AM.

Learn How to Make the Best Latkes at Essex Market on December 15th from 12 PM to 1 PM! Pessie Rosen, a tour guide from The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy, will be teaching you how to make crisp and flavorful latkes. Tickets are $6, and of course, you’ll be able to eat your creations!
