Celebrate Earth Day weekend with the LES Ecology Center

On Earth Day 2018 the LES Ecology Center aims to show New Yorkers the plants and animals that are living in their own backyard and teach them ways that they can all be a part of making New York greener.

The Fire Boat House will be open all weekend for hands on activities and learning with Nicolle Martinez, their Environmental Educator and Melinda Billings, their Stewardship Coordinator. All events are free and open to the public, no RSVP required. Please meet at our Education Center in the Fire Boat House.
Saturday, April 21
Animal Meet and Greet
10am-1pm
Come meet the animal ambassadors of LES Ecology Center. Get to know the wildlife up close and learn about which are native, non-native, and invasive.

East River Park Stewardship
10am-1pm
Help clean up the planting beds of East River Park and get them ready for spring and summer blooms!

 
Sunday, April 22
East River Park Nature Walk
10am-1pm
Tour the native flora of East River Park with our resident naturalist. View the springtime flowers and keep an eye out for the migrating birds that frequent the park.
