Haven’t seen the “Jaws?” Here your chance at Hunters Point South Parks summer movies in the park. Take NYC Ferry’s Astoria and Lower East Side, LIC route to Long Island City, Queens. CinemaLIC is organized by the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy (HPPC), Nestseekers, sponsors NYC Ferry and others. Movies were selected from survey choices selected by hundreds of park-goers.
The movies are free to the public! No seating is provided, bring your own blankets and chairs. The films are screened at LIC waterfront and viewers are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or sheets. If you bring beach chairs, please set up on the sidelines or in the back as a courtesy to other viewers.
When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engages in an epic battle of man vs. nature.
