Get ready to set sail into a month filled with excitement! March brings a wave of events near NYC Ferry landings, offering something for everyone to enjoy. From Women’s History Month events to outdoor adventures, there’s no shortage of fun awaiting you just a ferry ride away.

Spring Events

Playtopia
Date: 3/17 | 11AM-3PM
Route: St. George
Landing: Midtown West
Discover and play with dozens of summer camps and activities at PLAYTOPIA, hosted by Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents. Free activities include arts & crafts, STEM and robotics, photo booth, collaborative sculpture build, face painting, magic shows, balloon twister, games, and more.

Brooklyn Bridge Park: Nature Storytime
Date: 3/21, 3:00-3:30 PM
Route: East River / South Brooklyn
Landing: DUMBO
Join for Nature Storytime at the Environmental Education Center! Held at 3:00 PM on the third Thursday of every month.

Socrates Sculpture Park Annual Closing Celebration
Date: 3/23, 3:00-5:00 PM
Route: Astoria
Landing: Astoria
Experience the public works, themed “Transformation,” by our 2023 Fellows Ashley Harris, Ndivhuho Rasengani, Bat-Ami Rivlin, Kate Rusek, Maryam Turkey, and Stefania Urist. Meet the artists and learn more about their work and Fellowship experience creating their work on-site at the Park. A special poetry reading by Emily Toder will be presented at Untitled (12 tubs) by Bat-Ami Rivlin.

Brookfield Place: Hot Shots

Show off your basketball skills with the interactive Pop-A-Shot in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place.

Noguchi Museum – Art for Families: Discovery
Date: 3/6, 10:30 am–12:30 pm
Route: Astoria
Landing: Astoria
Families with children ages 5–11 are invited to participate in conversations in the galleries and art-making activities in the Education studio (Level C). Have fun with clay to explore the visual and tactile textures of Isamu Noguchi’s sculptures.

Corlears Hook – Spring Egg Hunt

Spring Bird Walk
Date: 3/2, 10am – 12pm

Enjoy the crisp air and head out on an exciting bird-watching expedition. This promises to be an unforgettable experience for all nature enthusiasts.

Seaport Kids x SPRINGTOPIA

Landing: Wall St / Pier 11
The agenda at Seaport Square includes dance parties with Hypedance at 12pm and 1pm, face painting, spring wreath-making, egg races, and selfies with the Easter Bunny.

Seaport Kids: Celebrate Holi at South Street Seaport

Shake off the winter blues and douse your family in the colors of spring! The Seaport celebrates Holi with colorful puppets, dances, drummers, delicious food, and powder play.

International Women’s Day Events

NYC Parks – National Girls & Women in Sports Day in Red Hook
Date: 3/17, 12 pm–2 pm
Route: South Brooklyn
Landing: Red Hook
National Girls & Women in Sports Day is an annual celebration of Title IX. Join us for a fun afternoon of sports and group activities. Learn new skills with our sports clinics in soccer, basketball, football, and more. This event is free and open to the public, ages 6 and up.

NYPL: International Women’s Day Celebration
Date: 3/8, 3-4pm

Join us at the Soundview Library as we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day! Make sure to take part in button making, tote bags, and mugs featuring quotes from your favorite women in history. Gear them towards an important woman in your life or for yourself to take home!

NYPL: Women’s History Month Trivia

Virtual Teen Comics Chat – Women’s History Month

This event is online only. Join us as three librarians talk about comics for women’s history month . Teens who attend and visit any of the three libraries afterwards can get a free comic book to keep.

St. Patrick’s Day Events

Throggs Neck St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Date: 3/10, 9am-8pm
Route: Soundview
Landing: Ferry Point Park
Reviewing Stand on E. Tremont at Harding Avenue. Parade Route begins at E. Tremont and Lafayette Avenues and continues down E. Tremont, Right onto Harding Avenue and concludes at Harding and Brinsmade Avenues.
