New York’s Seaport was an integral part of the city’s development and eventual economic dominance. Prior to the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, nearly all transportation to and from Manhattan occurred by ferryboat. This tour explores how the City’s historical waterfronts in Manhattan and Brooklyn have evolved since the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge to today’s waterfront development trends. You will take a ferry: bring $2.75.

Join the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) May 4-6 for Jane’s Walk, a festival of 200+ free, citizen-led walking tours inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. Walks combine the simple act of exploring the city with personal observations, local history, and civic engagement. Now in its eighth year, Jane’s Walk NYC is the largest in the world.
